Today's word is STORY, and here's my best five minutes . . . .
READY, SET, GO!
How many times has someone said to you, "Have I got a STORY to tell!"
And you're reaction may have been, "Oh, no, here we go again!"
But think about it -- we've all got stories to tell. We just don't always preface our stories with such an announcement.
As I thought about Lisa-Jo's word for today, I began to think about my story. Well, actually that would be STORIES!
There are my mamahood stories. Then my single parenting stories after the divorce stories.
My stories about working as a legal secretary for some 30 plus years. Oh, all the soccer, T-ball, swimming, football stories.
And the stories of finding Mr. Right and marrying him, and now the stories of our glorious almost 31 years together. In between all of that, the stories of our children's marriages, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren.
That's a lot of stories!
But there's one story so much more important than all of these . . . . it's the story of a loving Father who looked down on His creation and saw people who needed Him and His loving grace. The Father who gave us His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our salvation.
Now, that's a STORY!
STOP!

Your post reminded me of all of the good stories I'm surrounded by every day, while I raise my three boys and watch them live their stories, and of the grace that underlies every. little. thing. Thank you for making me smile.
ReplyDelete(I'm visiting from Lisa-Jo's blog, but couldn't get my URL to work on your comments, so I had to post as Anonymous. I'm Kim, from http://lifeinsmallspaces.wordpress.com/) :)
Kim, I'm so sorry you had trouble with commenting and identifying yourself. And thanks for dropping in from Lisa-Jo's. I love Five Minute Friday because it pushes all my writer buttons to do something in such a short span of time. Today's was easy though as I thought about all that's happened in my life and continues to happen. And you're right -- your boys are living out their stories and grace is the foundation for each one. Glad I made you smile!
ReplyDeleteI am so many stories to tell! I too am most thankful for the story of a Heavenly Father who looked upon me with love! Thank you for sharing your heart today my friend.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Barbie, thanks for dropping by! You have been such a busy lady lately I'm surprised you have time to read blog posts. :)
DeleteThat one precious story shapes all our other stories and imparts meaning doesn't it! I'm so thankful for God's loving grace and the vast display of his love!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Beck -- and that one precious story is the favorite of all my stories for that simple reason you state. It shapes everything else about me and gives my life such gracious meaning.
