Light, Gladness and Thanks

"Light is sown like seed for the righteous and gladness for the
upright in heart. Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones,
and give thanks to His holy name."
Psalms 97:11-12

Sitting in our backyard today the light came through the trees much like this photo shows.

As I looked up through the towering trees, I was at once caught up by the goodness of that light and how it spread across not only our yard but our neighbors' yards, and in fact all over our small neighborhood.

Just as the Psalmist says in these verses, the "light is sown like seed" -- the light's beams are thrown down from above to the earth below.  As I garden and plant seeds, often they are tossed down into the row with the hope that the seed will flourish.

God's light is sent down with the hope that it will plant a seed in a heart and flourish there too.  How can we not be glad in our hearts and give thanks to Him for all His goodness to us?

  1. Dear Sherrey

Thank you for visiting me at Create With Joy and leaving such an encouraging note on my 1000 Gifts post! I am so blessed to meet ou and to read your post today. I host a weekly party called Inspire Me Monday and I would love it if you'd share it with us (and join us each week and share your inspirational writing!)

I love your list - although it's personal it gives me a sense of who you are - and I love that you are writing your memoir. What particularly caught my eye, however, was your mention of Marlene Bagnull's wonderful study, Writing His Answer. I had the pleasure of working through this book 18 years ago with a writing group at my church when I first came to the Lord and Marlene's words that we are may never travel more than a few hundred miles from our homes, but our words may travel around the world and impact others for eternity remains with me to this day. Every time I see the map at the bottom of my blog I think about this and am blessed and humbled by the people God brings into my life.

Have a blessed week & I truly look forward to getting to know you! :-)

    1. Mary Beth, thanks much for coming by and I too love photos that reflect so much on light. And yes, I have heard of Thomas Kinkade. Years ago a friend gave me a Bible that included reprints of his paintings and a companion study that his wife had written. I still have both -- and enjoy using them because of the pictures of light.
